Electric Trucks on the Move
Kuehne+Nagel and Milence test electric freight transport in the UK, proving that sustainable logistics is already a reality.
Kuehne+Nagel, a global logistics leader, and Milence, the company behind Europe’s largest public truck charging network, have joined forces to accelerate the adoption of electric road freight. Their goal is to move the conversation beyond limitations and highlight what’s already possible with zero-emission heavy-duty transport.
The initiative is focused in the UK, where Kuehne+Nagel’s electric trucks are now integrated into daily operations, thanks to Milence’s first UK charging hub in Immingham, near the Able Humber Port.
Charging Infrastructure and Timing
Vehicles can recharge using high-performance 400 kW CCS chargers, with charging times ranging from one to two and a half hours. Plans are also underway to introduce MegaWatt chargers, cutting the time to around 30–45 minutes.
Milence is currently developing over 20 charging hubs across Europe, laying the foundation for the continent’s first “green corridors” for sustainable road freight. The two companies are also working together to share operational insights and identify strategic locations for future charging stations.
Toward Greener Logistics
The message is clear: the shift to electric freight transport requires collaboration among companies, institutions, and logistics operators. Only by working together can the sector overcome limitations and achieve a more sustainable, efficient, and competitive logistics system.
